Kennett After-School Association Staff
Although the size and scope of the program has grown considerably, After-The-Bell is coordinated by a paid staff of only one full-time and three part-time employees.

Kathy Hrenko joined the Kennett After-School Association in 2009 as the organization’s Executive Director.
Kathy works closely with the Kennett Consolidated School District and local community leaders to identify and
address the academic, social, recreational and cultural needs of Kennett Middle School students via the
After-The-Bell program. Before becoming Executive Director, Kathy served as a volunteer faciliator with After-The-
Bell for four years.
Kathy earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania State University, and her Master’s Degree in
Creative Arts in Therapy from Hahnemann University. She is a board certified art therapist and has worked
serving the needs of her community in psychiatric hospitals, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, youth detention,

Since 2002, Mrs. “J” has been a core member of the Kennett After-School Association staff. She currently serves as
the Managing Director and is responsible for the development and administration of the After-The-Bell program.
Her operational duties include management of staff, students, parents, volunteers and program activities.
Her multi-tasking skills and love of working with middle school students and volunteers allow her to manage all
aspects of the After-The-Bell program with great success.
Charlie Lewis

After volunteering for two years, Charlie Lewis was asked to join the team as Program Director, a position he has
held for six years. He is responsible for organizing activities, coordinating the appropriate equipment needed for
activities and managing discipline issues.
Charlie has enjoyed a long teaching career of over 30 years, and is currently Unionville High School’s track and
field coach. Charlie’s experience working with young people provides an invaluable service to After-The-Bell.
Charlie resides in Kennett Borough and loves working with the Kennett Middle School students.
Linda Ward
Program Liaison

Since the fall of 2007, Linda has provided exceptional service as After-The-Bell’s Program Liaison. She helps out in
various capacities including: greeting and assisting volunteers, monitoring student discipline, facilitating activities
when a volunteer is unable to attend and helping in all program areas.
Linda has a teaching degree from Neumann College and has been employed full-time at the Kennett Middle
School for the past five years. She works with Learning Support and Special Needs students, and she enjoys the
opportunity that After-The-Bell offers to get to know the students on a more personal level.
